World’s Thinnest LCD HDTV |

If there is one thing that the digital revolution has taught us it is that as technology progresses things get smaller. That is extremely true when looking at the latest in LCD HDTV technology. LEDs are not new to TVs, what is new is “LED-edgelighting” a term to be heard a lot at the 2009 CES show. LEDs create a vivid, bright picture that will not burn out for a long time. Since the bulbs are so small and placed around the frame, the width of upcoming and some recently released screens such as the new Samsung is ridiculously thin. I’m talking under 7mm thin.
It is truly amazing how far we have come with LCD HDTV in just a few years. Pretty soon a TV wall mount is going to only need the support for a screen which weighs a couple pounds. There is also an increased color spectrum with the new LED technology. Imagine how real Planet Earth would look with an edgelite LED screen. The Samsung advertisement above gives you a better visual idea of how skinny this new technology is allowing screens to get.
