Upgrade to Blu-Ray? That's the Question Most Home Theater Components Owners Are Facing Now |

While it's true that Blu-Ray players have come down greatly in price, the one thing keeping some movie fans like myself from adding a Blu-Ray player to my collection of home theater components is the high cost of Blu-Ray DVDs. There's no question that Blu-Ray discs play beautifully on any LCD HDTV, and they certainly sound great and boast a terrific range of features. However, they're still much more expensive than standard DVDs, which play well on a Blu-Ray player. Personally, I love watching movies at home, but it would be a considerable expense for me to replace a lot of my favorite DVDs with Blu-Ray discs, and some of the movies that I like are simply not obtainable in the Blu-Ray format. That's one of the reasons why I've held off adding a Blu-Ray player to my set of home theater components, even though I have upgraded to a 1080p HDTV to add to my viewing experience. It's going to be a while before the selection of Blu-Ray discs even approaches what's still available on standard DVDs, so I'll probably hold off another year before getting a Blu-Ray player to add to my home theater components. |
