If your couch is too close to the LCD HDTV then you could be missing out on all that is 1080p or 720p. There is something called the Lechner Distance which is the median distance people should sit from their home theater components. That distance is 9 feet but that number is diluted by huge screen sizes. After doing some research on the Lechner Distance, I found a chart from hdguru.com showing how far a person should sit from their 720p or 1080p HDTV depending on the screens size. For example, someone who owns a 32” 1080p HDTV has to sit 4.2 feet away. A 720p LCD HDTV the same size requires a seating position about 6.5 feet away.
