<--Ingredients for Paper Thin Screens
LCD HDTV screen dominance is easily noticed when looking at their global market share but there may be a new technology emerging that will knock LCD TVs off their thrown. It is called OLED. It is thin, I mean really thin, an energy saving wizard and offers top quality picture. OLED utilizes a technology that makes the thinnest screens on the market. In a marketplace where the best and often smallest devices capture consumers attention and explode in popularity there is a good chance OLED screens will start to seem more attractive then the shelves and shelves of LCD HDTV screens.
OLED stands for Organic Lights Emitting Diode. LED technology is being used in the new edge lit 1080p HDTV screens from the likes of Samsung but those miss the organic part. The OLED portion is a flexible sheet comparable to a double thick transparency sheet. As this technology continues, we will start seeing paper thin screens on the market. The benefits of OLED screens are aesthetics, flexibility, energy savings and durability. Who could ask for more?
