garmin gps

If it wasn't for the Garmin GPS that I bought a year ago, I would never have realized how much I love hiking. It isn't so much the hiking that I love. But, the chance to get outside, and experience different places and environments. It is just an amazing thing to be able to walk along trails, up mountains, and along areas where people haven't yet corrupted with towns and roads.

After a doctor's visit I decided I had to change my life. My doctor didn't give me a great report after a yearly physical. He told me that if I didn't change my routine soon, I might not be around much longer. I needed to get regular exercise and change my eating habits. On the way home I decided I would do something, but I didn't know what. When I got home I started looking online for some ideas for exercising and noticed an article on hiking. I wasn't much for walking, but thought it would be fun to be outdoors. The article talked about the benefits of having a Garmin GPS with you while hiking. I figured if I was going to do this, I might as well buy a new Garmin GPS. I made my purchase and have loved my decision ever since.

This past summer I wanted to do something new with my hiking and decided to go on a three week hike through three different national parks in the Midwest. I had one problem with that. I didn't have any maps for my Garmin GPS for that area. I went to the same website that I bought the Garmin GPS from, Shopp Rite Mall, to see what they had to offer. At www.shoppritemall.com I saw that they had a map package that would be perfect for what I need.

I bought a Garmin US TOPO 24K National Parks, West v.2.0 map collection that I could upload to my Garmin GPS. The map was great and had tremendous detail and hiking trails on it. After receiving the map collection from Shopp Rite Mall I began planning out my three week trip.

When the day came to go on my trip, I felt very confident that my Garmin GPS would guide me through every step of the three National Parks. The trip was a lot of fun with only one glitch. And it wasn't related to my Garmin GPS at all. One night while I was hiking out along the river, I heard something outside my tent. When I poked my head out to see what was going on, I saw a huge bear going through my food! I had forgot to set it up in a tree! Oh well, I only lost a few things. But, the memories of the trip make up for it.
